WHO IS I?
A question to the nature of identity.
At the most advanced level we are all one.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
MARY LAMBERT Inspired by the idea that “Who am I?” can only be answered by questioning the concept of self: Painting allows me to enter a wordless selfless meditation. I love the abstraction of nature and the nonverbal connection I can forge with the life of plants and animals by drawing and painting them. I love stories and the way that a single still image can connect with the collective consciousness of humanity and convey a complex emotional narrative. I often start a painting with an idea that becomes something entirely different as the gestural images take control of my intention. My favorite paintings come from a place that I can’t explain with words.
HERMANN LEDERLE My series of BEAUTIFUL CHAOS abstract canvas scapes and layered BREAKAWAY PIXEL blot paintings aim to revive the gamut and spunk of a paint-thrusting Abstract Expressionist. Blurring the boundaries between the emulsion and its intended motif, the work merges geometric abstraction and sheer color concept to explore a new intangible thematic. Through a PILLING of dotted lines and multitude of hyper-glow colors, I intend to assault the surface with micro-nuclear forces.
